Gymnastics Update...

I did receive an email Sunday night about Sophie's gymnastics evaluation.  She did really well!  She has been offered a position on the Gymnastics Team.  I didn't realize that they were evaluating her for a Team.  I thought it was for the summer classes.

With us getting close to the adoption of Sawyer and not being certain how the adjustment is going to go.  We do not feel like we can commit to the amount of time needed for practices and the competitions that will be held.  The practices are not exactly convenient for the working momma.  There is also the cost factor.  We will be having an added expense of daycare to our finances.  We of course would sacrifice and do what we can to help Sophie do the best she can but it just doesn't seem like this is the right time.

My heart is torn.  She loves gymnastics!  I really want her to be able to do this but we don't want to get in over our heads.  We have never had to say no to anything we wanted for her.  I have no problem saying no to her when she wants a movie, a toy, or shoes.  But, you see this is competitive and I love me some competition.  Just ask my family how I am when we play games...we are talking blood....and that is just with board games.  Ok, slight exaggeration.

She knows she did well but she wants to know if she is moving up.  I don't really know how to answer that.  There isn't really a class above her class, just the teams.  She will still be able to take a class this summer and next year.  The lady in the office at the gym said she will continue to learn new things and still be challenged.

I was talking to some of the other moms in the lobby tonight and they wanted to know if we heard anything.  I was explaining our situation and another mom overheard us and she said the day she found out she made the gymnastics team (when she was a child) she also learn that she wasn't going to be able to do it because her mom was expecting.  She said she was so excited about being a big sister and she promised Sophie would be fine.  She was very glad (and still is to this day) to have her little sister and would gladly give up that spot on the team again.
